  1. Wash the ilish fish and rub some turmeric powder and salt to the fish pieces and leave for 15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a deep pan or wok and fry the slices onion till they are become golden brown and crispy.
  3. Heat oil in a wok and lightly fry ilish fish and strain from the oil.
  4. Temper the oil with whole cinnamon, bay leaf and green cardamom.
  5. Add the onion paste and cook on low flame till the onion are golden brown.
  6. Add ginger and garlic paste along with 2 or 3 slit green chillies and cook till the mixture leaves the edges of the wok.
